Our mission is to be a child's first yoga teacher in a fun, age appropriate way. Our goal is for the child to continue practicing yoga into their adult life. We feel that if a child learns just one pose, or one breathing technique, or one meditation that they can incorporate into their daily life, then we have completed our mission. 

What a great yoga class! My daughter and I took it over and over again, and she was singing the songs and doing the yoga poses at home. The teachers (Doreen and Kathleen) paced the class expertly for children under 5. Learn more about Doreen here.. Doreen founded The Children's School of Yoga after having an epiphany in the middle of the night that she was meant to teach children's yoga. After waking her husband and researching the industry she started her mission to be a child's first yoga teacher in a fun, age appropriate way. In January of 2004 she officially started offering classes.4 months after starting the program additional teachers were hired to be able to expand the program. 8 Years later, the business opportunity was franchised, and a year later the curriculum was licensed for use in schools throughout many states in the country. Since that time, her program has taught thousands of students in over 250+ locations throughout the Hudson Valley, NY Region, Rockland & Westchester NY Counties, Bergen and Essex County, NJ, Fairfield County CT, Pike County, PA, NYC, NC in the Sandhills and Triangle area.  Doreen believes in introducing many different yoga styles to children, so that they will continue practicing yoga into their adult life. Doreen has a background in dance (studied ballet for over 13+ yrs.), music (studied piano for 10+ yrs.), children's programming ( was involved in children's recreation & parent/child programs for over 6+ yrs.) and of course yoga... She currently has certifications from various Yoga Programs including: Kundalini Yoga ~ Radiant Child I & II, Next Generation Yoga , YogaKids ~ CYKT and Grounded Kids Yoga. Doreen has studied various yoga styles such as: Hatha, Kundalini, Iyenger, Sivananda, Anusara, Ashtanga. Doreen  continues to take classes and is a teacher and student in the science of  Astrology, Crystal Healing, Reiki, and holds several certifications through Kyle Gray, Radleigh Valentine, Melissa Amos,  and Reiki I,II,II becoming a Master teacher in Usui Holy Fire Reiki. Doreen combines many different elements and yoga styles in the children's yoga curriculum and classes and believes that children learn through play and having fun. Most recently Doreen combined her love of Astrology and her love of Yoga into a brand new curriculum for students. Kids Yoga Meets Atsrology was born during the Pandemic..Kids Yoga Meets Reiki is the newest division in our curriculum. All of the classes for children are curriculum based, age appropriate, and theme orientated. Doreen personally trains her franchisee's and continues to work closely with them. What are the refund policies? Class registration fees are non-refundable in our satellite studio and school locations. Missed classes due to illness or inclement weather must be made up during the current session in our satellite locations you & / or your child are registered for. Unused classes will be put into our Scholarship Program each session. In person classes missed can be made up in our virtual classes. ***Inclement weather note for schools: If your school is closed due to inclement weather, our offices must be notified by you personaly to receive a class credit. if our instructors show up to teach, and your school is closed, you will be charged for classes scheduled that day.***  Schools & Child Care Centers: Missed classes are non-refundable and can be made up in our virtual studio. Virtual classes missed can not be transferred or refunded. What are the class policies? Schools & Child Care Centers:                                                                                                                                  Class registrations are based on sessions that the school has selected. We cannot offer the ability to attend non consecutive weeks and require your childs attendance cuncurrent for the session registered for.  Are there Makeups? Missed classes at our virtual studio or satellite locations due to illness or inclement weather must be made up during the session you & /or your child are registered for on an alternate day/time the same class is offered or if possible an alternate location or virtually. If your child will not be in class due to an illness, scheduling conflict or vacation, we must be notified at least 24 hours prior. Missed classes in which we were not notified of your child's absence within 24 hours prior will result in a deduction in your balance of classes of that class. Schools and Childcare Centers: Missed classes cannot be credited but can be taken virtually instead. Are there any other forms to fill out? All class participants in our satellite and virtual studio locations are required to fill out our Liability Release form at the time of registration. Schools and Childcare Centers:                                                                                                                                    All class participants are required to fill out a registration form online or a hard copy at specific schools. Can schedules change? Class schedules are subject to change based on enrollment at our satellite, virtual studio and school locations. Shipping Policy: All Gift Certificates are shipped via USPS Mail. NEW COVID PROCEDURES:                                                                                                                                            Satellite locations - We will require all students entering to have their temperature taken and to immediately wash their hands. ANy students with a temperature of 99* or above will not be allowed entry. Students with any signs of a cold, cough, rash or sickness will not be allowed entry. Students who suffer from allergies, must have a current Dr's note stating so for us to make any exception to the coughing, sneezing rule. Students may be required to wear a mask. Students must bring or purchase their own yoga mat, blanket and water to drink. A new signed liability and hold harmless release form will be required by all parents to allow their child to participate in our program.

Family Yoga - All Ages Families can participate in a group yoga class that incorporates basic yoga poses, partner poses, group poses, breathing and relaxation techniques, mediations, yoga chants, games and more... All age groups are welcome (Siblings too!!) Parent/Child under 18 months - Infant Yoga Parents and child(ren) will participate in an age appropriate, theme oriented yoga class. Yoga poses, games, chants, nursery rhymes, music, relaxation & breathing techniques will be a part of every class. Parent/Child 18mos - 5 Years (Toddler/Preschoolers) Parents and child(ren) will participate in an age appropriate, theme oriented yoga class. Yoga poses, games, chants, nursery rhymes, music, relaxation & breathing techniques, & meditations will be a part of every class. Private Classes for Special Abilities/Needs We will tailor a series of yoga postures and breathing  & relaxation techniques and meditations to fit your child's unique and individual needs and abilities. School Aged Yoga Children ages 5-12 years will be introduced to age appropriate yoga poses, ( individual, partner & group poses), breathing & relaxation techniques, mindfullness, meditations, yoga chants, yoga games and activities, crafts, journaling, an introduction to the yamas and niyamas (do's and dont's of yoga) and more... Teen Yoga Teens will be introduced to individual, partner & group yoga poses that start to focus on proper alignment. They will learn breathing & relaxation techniques, mindfullness, meditations, yoga chants, yoga games and activities, yoga history,an introduction to the yamas and niyamas (do's and dont's of yoga),  journaling and more.. Online Yoga Classes   We will schedule a single class, or series of classes online via Facetime to individually teach yoga postures and breathing / relaxation techniques to fit you & / or your child's unique and individual needs and abilities.       Preschool, Childcare, After School, Camp, Off Site Yoga Classes We will be happy to schedule classes at your school or location and send one of our amazing teachers to you based on your requests for classes.
