Boys and Yoga

Yoga for Boys is a wonderful opportunity to bring the history of yoga's beginnings into a class.

Yoga was shared down through Monks, generation to generation, for the first 3 thousand years...Later when yoga became more mainstream, women and girls have since been introduced to it...

Celebrate the history of only boys doing Yoga with Warrior Poses, Affirmations (positive statements),  and Strength poses like Chatturanga (Basically a push up as low as you can be to the ground not moving).

Boys through yoga can work on flexibility, strength, balance, stamina and relaxation...

Do they play Baseball? Football?Basketball? Wrestling? Do they ride bikes, rollerblades, skateboard? Do they play an instrument? Create art pieces? Write poems or stories?

Yoga can help boys in all aspects of their life..

Being the perfect Yogi

Children's Yoga is a completely different animal then adult yoga.

Adult Yoga focuses on being in proper ailignment, Children's Yoga introduces the child to the pose in a fun, age appropriate way.

Adult Yoga teaches a series of poses to be done and repeated, children's yoga allows for the child to create a series of poses or recreate an existing pose.

Adult Yoga focuses on breathing properly, children just breathe...

Adult Yoga  is catergorized based on the style of yoga being taught , children's yoga introduces the child to many different styles of yoga.

Parents need to realize that when children are learning a new skill, they learn through play. Being the perfect little yogi is not an option.

Namaste`, Have a Great Yoga Day!!

9/11/08

We want to take this time to reflect on friends and families we may have lost on this day 7 years ago. Setting up an altar is a wonderful way to not only remember a lost loved one, but  it can become a location in your home or office that you can view to help meditate, relax and take a few minutes away from the hectic lives we lead in todays world. You may want to include a picture, a candle, a statue, flowers or plants, or something special to you. An altar does not have to take up alot of space, and can be in a corner or area of a room not being occupied. Blessings......
