Thanksgiving Meditation

This weeks classes are participating in yoga numbers and having fun with number poses and breathing and relaxation techniques.
We implement visualizing in every yoga class whether we are teaching under 5 year olds, school aged or teen.
Anyone can visualize (picture something in your head).
What is visualizing? Simply close your eyes and picture something, anything.. from a peaceful place, to a friend that you have fun with, to your favorite dessert, to a car of your dreams you may want, to a passing grade on a test...the ideas are limitless...
If you can visualize it, you can live it!! Namaste', Visualize it today!!
Sit comfortably.
Place your pointer fingers in each ear.
Breathe in your nose. On the exhale, hummmmmm.
Repeat..
Bee Breathing is beneficial to a child as it helps them to self regulate, self control and boosts their immune system.

This weeks classes are celebrating Magical Creatures. Angel Wings breathing is a very easy skill children of all ages can learn to focus and control their breathing. Simply have your child sitting on their knees or standing up with their arms starting out at their sides. Slowly raise arms up like wings as you breathe in. When hands almost touch have your child lower them back down to their sides and breathe out. Making wings..As the wings go faster, the breath is faster. When the wings go slower, the breath is slower..Wings go up and down...

Alphabet Yoga

Our back to school pose of the week lets your little yogi form their body into a letter. How many letters can your little yogi form with their body?
|
A-B-C / Alphabet Breathing
Our back to school breath is very simple. Breathe in, breathe out and say "A", Breathe in, breathe out and say "B", breathe in, breathe out and say "C"...your child can do as many letters as he/she feels comfortable going up to..

Blanket swinging:
During classes this week we are celebrating the snow melting in our backyards and offering blanket or parachute swings to all children under 5 with the help of all teachers and parents on site. Try this at home with your little yogi's for balance, coordination and strength. Have your little one lay down across a folded blanket as you and a friend grab the ends by their head and feet to gently swing and sway your little yogi..
Children love visuals and a balloon is an easy visual that you can blow up and delfate during this breath.
Have your child sit crossed legged holding their belly. As they breathe in, the ballon grows, as they breathe out, the balloon deflates. Repeat several times until your child feels calmer or have even more ballon fun and have your child rise as the balloon inflates, holding the air in until they can't hold it any longer and as the ballon deflates, letting the air out, having your child lower down back to the floor..repeat..

Stuffed Animal Breathing:
An easy but effective use of a small stuffed animal (ie: beanie baby) is to place it on the belly of a child resting on their back. Tell them to close their eyes and feel their stuffed friend rise and fall with their breath. Focus only on the stuffed animal as they breathe in and out.. |
